I know I recorded the progress of the whole Yule day last year, but I thought I’d just show the start of it this year in order to (ahem) whet your appetite.
Here we go – starting with ‘Bulletproof Coffee’ made the old-fashioned way:
First comes the butter – quarter of a pack.
Next comes the coconut oil.
Two heaped spoonfuls of ground coffee.
Add a litre of boiling water.
Add some boiling water to the butter and coconut to get them melting while the coffee brews.
Once the coffee is brewed, blend it with the oils.
And pour.
For the smoothest, creamiest coffee in the Universe!
Warning! If you are not used to drinking that much fat in one go then please go easy with it. It has a tendency to pass through the alimentary system rather quickly otherwise (like paraffin though a donkey, some might say!).
And now for something to eat. Let’s start with the bread:
Slice off the top of the loaf and hollow out the middle a little (saving the inside for breadcrumbs for turkey stuffing!) and then butter the inside.
Add some smoky bacon
Top with cooked tomatoes and mushrooms.
And a couple of fried eggs.
Pop the top back on to keep it warm while you take it back to the table.
Tuck in.
Yum…
Yum…
Yum!
Tip: To make this an even more interesting and long-lasting meal, try eating it with chop-sticks in place of a knife and fork. (Not!)
And don’t get on to me about the butter! I eat almost exclusively a Paleo diet and lost a ton of weight (alright, I lost six stones in nine months). I don’t have a problem with butter. Carbs? Yes, I do have a problem with carbohydrates. But my blood-sugar levels are better than a healthy person’s and I no longer take any diabetes medication – and the weight is staying off!
I come off Paleo three times a year – my birthday, Yule and Christmas.
Today is Yule.
Happy Yule, my friends!
Well, it’s not what I’d choose to eat or drink, but I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself your way, and enjoying it 🙂
Just once a year, ma’am – pity and old man (or rejoice and get your napkin!) 😀
