I plan on posting updates throughout the day as time allows so be sure and pop in frequently. . .
(You’ll need to read this post from the bottom upwards to make sense of the timeline.)
16:48 First of the guests arrive. . . more later. . .
16:31 And naturally you have to have strawberry St Nicholas. . .
16:18 Time to get the Yuleflame. . .
10:57 Had another mince pie just to see if it was as nice as the first one. It was, but you can’t rush to judge can you. I will need to do a longitudinal study. . .
10:28 And now the tipsy chocolate syllabub. . .
Good being a geomancer, isn’t it?
Anyway, I have a bowl to lick – back soon . . .
09:55 Then after cooking and cooling:
And then the first of the bread rolls:
08:24 One of our traditions for the Yule celebration is the breaking of the Yule-bread. This an ancient tradition we started a few years ago. 🙂
This the shortbread Sun before cooking. Tonight we’ll all gather round and make a wish and then put our fingers (only one each!) on the Sun and break it together – eat now or take away!
07:08 Bulletproof Coffee. . . you just can’t beat it! There has been some rain overnight. The sky looks fantastic this morning! I can make out several objects in breaks in the clouds . . . Vega, Arcturus, Mars and Jupiter and the Moon looking veiled and very suggestive.
05:38 Up a bit later than usual today as we didn’t get to bed until nearly ten o’clock last night! (I know!) Well I say ‘get to bed’. . . it would have helped if Ben hadn’t locked himself out (“Sorry to wake you both but I took out the wrong keys with me”) and got us up at midnight. Oh well, it probably gives us the last entry in the Solar diary to be read out later. Knowing Ben however I suspect he has at least one more entry possible! 🙂
20th December 2013
15:09 Final selection of the best Yule Log from the woodpile. . .
Waiting for the chop. . .
Nicely done, this year’s Yule Log poses with the ‘Orc hammer’ log-splitter.
This log will form an important part of celebration tomorrow night. Stay tuned. . .
