Up and running

A big “thank you” to all those who have been looking at this website and an even bigger “thank you” to all those who have ordered a copy of the new book!

In addition to teaching you how to use this ‘forbidden oracle’ I thought you might like to hear occasional thoughts on the uses of Astrogem, so let me tell you the story of what happened last night. . .

Yesterday evening my new computer arrived (with five seconds to go before the expiry of the delivery time they gave me.  I know!).  I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to swap your life from one computer to another, but it involves a lot of fiddling about with uploading and re-downloading programs and files without which it is not possible to function in life.  (What did people do before computers, I wonder?  Probably they just had 256 slaves with a ‘0’ or a ‘1’ painted on them I suppose).

Anyway, I was trying to download Word 2010 from the web.  I’d already bought a copy for my laptop a few months ago and I now attempted to install that package on my new computer.  I downloaded the files and started the install.  Cue the geomancy. . .

I got a drink to while away the time and thought to myself, “I wonder what geome would cover whether I will be allowed to make this second copy?”  I drew Albus.

I thought this was a good sign.  Albus is associated with Mercury, which governs fast communication, ideas, travel and commerce.  Classically Albus means ‘the white, shining, brilliant, wisdom’, so I thought it would probably work ‘brilliantly’.  It did.  I was surprised and delighted.  I had paused to wonder what that single tap at level three of Albus might mean – possibly that I wouldn’t have to put in much physical effort – but I didn’t worry about it).  But there’s more. . .

On switching on the computer this morning the software was having none of it!: ‘Please enter a valid software key!’  I re-entered the one from yesterday, but the software had changed its mind (another Mercurian characteristic!).  I called Microsoft technical support.

It turns out that the free ‘starter version’ of Word which came with the machine was conflicting with the version of Word I had just loaded up (Mercury rules Gemini’s twins by the way – twinned software in this case).  Uninstalling both versions and then reinstalling the new version was the solution and now I’m up and running.

Coincidence?  Reverse engineering the of the facts?  Selective observation?  Or is the genius of geomancy revealing itself in even the tiniest aspects of life?  I’ll let you decide. . .
