3 Ways Geomancy Can Change Your Life

Many people think of geomancy as just another method of divination.  But it is much more than that.  It is also a tool for personal and spiritual development.  To give an idea of it in action here are three ways you can use geomancy to change your life.

  1. If you feel overwhelmed with a busy life but still want to know how to begin your spiritual journey, geomancy can help.
  1. If you want to know what the Universe wants from you today and what you are ‘supposed to be doing with your gifts’ then geomancy can give you a big hint.
  1. If you want to feel more grounded, centred and connected with all life, then geomancy to the rescue!

.

Beginning your spiritual journey

Many of us feel overwhelmed with all the things we have to do in life.  It’s hard enough just to do everyday things.  But when you want to do ‘the right things’ for yourself and for others, to develop and express your purpose in life and find your spiritual path it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start.

You’ve probably already got a ton of ideas about specific things you could do to be a better and more spiritual person, but organising these and then putting them into practice is not always easy.

Geomancy can help you sort out these ideas and find out what spiritual path works best for you.

Finding your way

One way to begin your spiritual journey is to find live project in your life and then to apply a spiritual or personal development approach to it as suggested by the geomantic Oracle.  (I’ll give you the details in a moment.)  This is what makes it possible to Take control of your Destiny.

This is a powerful way of helping you with your current problems while helping you to explore and grow at the same time.  It’s a kind of spiritual ‘earning-whilst-learning’.

This works because you will be dealing with a problem or situation which needs attention now.  And if ever there was a time when you could do with help it’s when you’ve got a problem in front of you!

The Oracle will show you the context of the situation.   It lets you see the mental and the physical, the internal and the external relationships between things.  It shows what’s growing, what’s staying the same and what’s becoming less important.  And by knowing where that Flow is going you can then practice something both relevant, useful and which fits with the ‘spirit of the times’.  This gives you the best and most empowered use of your time and efforts.

It also gets things moving.  You will be able to see whether the ideas that have been floating around in your head feel right and work in practice.

How to do it

  1. The first thing to do is to decide what project you want to work with.  Start by thinking about all the situations and stories that are in progress and unfolding around you at the moment.
  1. Then decided which, of all those situations, where you can make a difference, that is where you have the ability to influence the outcome today… OK, got something?
  1. Now you have identified the situation you want to work on do a geomantic casting.  You will see what parts of the situation are changing: what is becoming more important, what’s becoming less important and what’s staying the same.

(If you want to learn how to do a simple geomantic casting then sign up for the free email course at the top right of the page.)

  1. Now, of all those great things you know – personal qualities to develop, the philosophies, approaches, tools and techniques you know about decide which of them you could apply in this live situation.
  1. Now the important step:  try it out.  Do something, even in a small way, to see how you feel about it.  If it is the right thing at the right time you will find it is surprisingly successful.  That should give you a big clue as to what is right for you.
  1. Having tested it you now need to sit down and think…  Did it work 100%?  Was it useless?  Could it work if you tweaked it a little?  Did something unforeseen happen?  What will you do differently next time?
  1. Rinse and repeat.

If it works, great!  You’ve added another string to your bow and you’re on your way.

If you find whatever it is doesn’t help you even after tweaking and giving it a couple of goes then either put it to one side or get rid of it from your thinking.  Find something else which does work.  Find out what suits you better and move on.  Test and grow, or test and discard.

Either way, you’re progressing.

In finding out what works for you I don’t mean that you should always just look for short-term solutions.  But neither should you plan on a life-choice that takes fifty years to develop if you don’t have fifty years left to devote to it!  There is nothing wrong with finding out what works and what makes your life and the lives of others better now.  You can add refinements and other longer-term practices later.

Let’s take an example

Let’s say you’re involved in some big project at work.  You do a casting and it shows that the Flow is about to move from a ‘thinking and internal mental world’ emphasis to more of an ‘acting in the external physical world’ direction.

You would then focus on improving your life in that upcoming ‘acting in the external physical world’ context.

You could test your ability to act more compassionately, or to be more organised in readying your packing for a trip associated with the project.  Perhaps you want to try your hand at making a talisman for material success, or maybe you want to work more harmoniously with others and the environment (whatever that means to you), etc.

All these would let you capitalise on your ‘inside knowledge’ from the Oracle.  You would then be much more zeroed-in on trying the right kinds of things for your development and at the right time, thereby giving you the best chance of success.

(If the Flow had instead indicated that the time was right to focus more on the thinking and your internal mental world you might instead tried a new practice in meditating, or perhaps in generating more ideas and options before reaching a decision, improving your concentration, finding ways to switch from broad-brush thinking to detailed planning, and so on.)

The specific approaches and techniques you will be able to test can be simple or complex – anything from a quick tweak to what you already do to a major lifestyle shift.  They can be aimed at pure spiritual development or focused more on your personal development.  The important thing to aim for is the development and expression of your unique individuality.

That’s what will make it your path.

.

What does the Universe want from you?

Sometimes you simply want to open yourselves to the world of possibility.  You want to understand your place in the here and now; to know what is ‘expected of you’.  You want to know what you need to learn and what you need to express.

This is a two-way process.  It’s a dialogue you have with the Universe which helps you understand what you can do for it and what it can do for you.

Perform a casting and just ask a simple question such as: ‘What needs to happen for my spiritual (or personal) development at this time?’

The timescale you ask about is up to you.  You could ask about ‘that day’ or ‘at this time’.  Your development is measured in things like memories, skills, life-changing events and new perspectives rather than in man-made time units, so ‘at this stage of my life’ is also a useful phrase to use.

If you create just one geome you will see what is currently active (two taps) or relatively inactive (one tap) areas of your development.

You could also create two geomes, one representing ‘Now’ and one representing ‘Next’.  By looking at the Flow between the two geomes you will see what is becoming more (increasing number of taps at a particular Level) or less (decreasing number of taps at a particular Level) important in your development and what is staying the same (same number of taps at that Level between the geomes).

Let’s take another example

Let’s say you got the geomes Fortuna Major (‘Now’) and Carcer (‘Next’):

Two geomes for the Geomantic Way article (600)

You can see that the External Mental Level (1) is decreasing in importance (two taps become one tap).

The Internal Mental Level (2) is staying the same (two taps at Level 2 in both geomes).

The Internal Physical Level (3) is growing (one tap becomes two taps).

And the External Physical Level (4) is staying the same (one tap stays as one tap between the geomes at Level 4).

How could you interpret this for your situation and development?

If the number of taps on a particular level stay the same then that aspect of your life is staying constant in terms of your development.

If you see an increase in one of the levels, then the following can be used as a general guide:

Level 1 – External mental: Share, interact, express

Level 2 – Internal mental: Create, think, plan

Level 3 – Internal physical: Apply, practice, grow

Level 4 – External physical: Learn, be useful, do the work, be there

If you see a decrease, then:

Level 1 – External mental: Don’t push outwards, pull back from involvement

Level 2 – Internal mental: Rethink, check your plans, rehearse

Level 3 – Internal physical: Ready yourself physically, get the necessary tools

Level 4 – External physical: Don’t commit, stay where you are, check it’s ‘safe’

(Again, if you don’t know what I’m referring to about these geomantic Levels then you can sign up for my free email course.)

Putting these meanings together in the example above then the Levels are saying: ‘(Level 1) Stop pushing out your ideas so much; (Level 2) Your ideas and plans are fine as they are but (Level 3) grow the physical effort or resources you put in to your life and (Level 4) as your physical result or output is likely to stay the same for a while.’

This tells you how life is affecting you and how you can affect life.  You can consider this a fairly direct memo from the Universe!

The messages from the Levels are the stepping stones you use to learn and grow as an individual.  The casting tells you which Levels you need to think about and which to act on.

Use it as a way of thinking about where you are, what you might do, learn and grow.

Again, by thinking about your situation with the Oracle’s help you get understanding and movement.

If you are not happy with how your development is progressing at the moment, or if you don’t know where you should be applying yourself, then this casting can help, because

Doing something and starting somewhere is better than doing nothing and getting nowhere

.

Feeling grounded and connected

Working with geomancy can help you feel more grounded, centred and connected, too.

This is because geomancy doesn’t just answer questions, it provides something more.  It provides you with a perspective.

When you have been working with the Oracle for a little while you might begin to wonder why there is an answer to your questions.

The reason that you get an answer which fits your life is because your life fits with an overall growing story, a pattern, a purpose.  You are part of an unfolding Flowing process.  There is a bigger story happening all around you – and you have a part to play in it.

You may begin to see and feel that you are part of this much bigger story.  You can understand that everyone around you is a part of that story, too, each in their own way.

Maybe you are a big part of that story, or maybe you just have a small role for the moment, but we are all connected to the story.  And we are linked to each other through this story and our roles in this interconnected ‘web of purpose’.

You can also begin to realise that in fulfilling your purpose and destiny you are not just growing and helping yourself but through your actions.  You’re also growing and helping the web of purpose for the rest of us.

By finding your Geomantic Way you fit into the natural way of all life.  You become more centred and grounded by fitting in with that greater story by allowing your uniqueness to blossom.  You begin to live in the Flowing moment.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open.”

Martha Graham, Dancer and choreographer, 1943

You can affect the people and circumstances around you for the better.

You have choices.  What you do with those choices is also your choice.

Grow. Flow.  Connect.
